Times have changed and we are embracing digital. Today more people in Africa are starting to embrace a cashless economy thanks to the mobile money revolution. This has given rise to numerous ways payments are made among which are electronic wallets.

An E-Wallet is a type of electronic card which is used for transactions made online through a computer or a smartphone. Its utility is the same as a credit or debit card.

The Pebuu Card which is valid for 10 years is a prepaid smart card that also functions as an electronic wallet. Purchases can be made at Pebuu accepting shops and points, vending machines, convenience stores and restaurants with the ‘Pebuu Card accepted here’ message.

As a parent, getting a Pebuu Card for your child enables you to deposit money into your child’s card remotely from any Pebuu Agent across Uganda. The card is then used by your child as pocket money at the School Canteen or anywhere they see a Pebuu sign.

The advantage of such an arrangement is that it offers a convenient and secure way for your child to keep money while at school. He/she no longer has to carry a wad of cash which can easily be stolen. It’s always hard to recover cash in such instances however, with E-Cards, one would require to input their PIN to authorize payment hence making it safe from financial loss associated with identity theft.

Another great thing about the Pebuu Card is that even if it gets lost, the information is already stored digitally therefore your child will still have access to their e-wallet once it’s replaced.

Also because all transactions are recorded, it makes it easy for you to track your child’s spending habits.
